The Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors met October 7th, 2010 at 7:30 at the VFW Building.
Website: We are in the process of changing the website. If you need something listed, please give Elbert a call and we will get it listed for you.
Banner Promotion: Some of the banners have been put up and the city crew is in the process of getting the additional banners up as soon as possible. I just wanted to thank them in advance for their help in getting our banners up. They look so nice and it is a nice addition to our town.
Farmer’s Market: The Farmer’s Market will continue until the last Saturday in October, which would be the 30th. If you know of anyone that has any fall items that would like to bring to the Farmer’s Market they have until the end of October.
Business Expo: We have set March 19th, 2011 as the date. We are in the process of setting up a committee. If you are interested in serving on that committee, please give Phil Oates a call. Before we can officially take any names and or money, we have to get everything set up for the Expo. As soon as we get everything formalized, we will be sending out information to everyone. Thanks for all of the interest.
Craft Fair: Dale Bishop has been working on getting information ready for our Craft Fair for next year. He has been gathering information from other sources that have had some success in having Crafts Fairs.
BATS: December BAT: Crowe & Heckman, P.C.
Welcome Bags: The Welcome bags have been filled and have been delivered to our local Public Water office and our City hall. We are still in need of items to fill the bags, so if your business would like to donate an item feel free to contact me at the number listed. Lori Haskins@ 816-97-2194
Teacher Welcome Bags: We delivered teacher welcome bags to our new teachers at the school. The bags included everything from our welcome bags plus a chamber mug with some candy and a welcome tag on each bag.
Christmas Parade: The Chamber in conjunction with the WMAT&MA will be hosting a Christmas parade. The parade will be held the same night as the Hot Chocolate night at the Antique Tractor Village. The parade will start at 4:30 and will proceed down Main Street and end at the end of main. We welcome anyone to come be a part of this event. We are in the process of sending out a letter to organizations and schools in hopes to get some involvement. If you need any additional information please feel free to contact myself or Linda Oldfield or contact the Chamber office.
Sight and Safety Night: Just a reminder to all of our members October 31st, 2010 is the date for this year’s Sight and Safety night. If you have ever attended you know that every year it just keeps on growing and it is such a neat event for kids and adults to experience. This year it happens to fall on a Sunday night, so plan on being open and supporting our Lions Club and support our town with this great tradition that they have started.
Chamber Bucks: Once again it is getting that time a year to start planning on Christmas shopping. There is nothing better than getting chamber bucks for that certain someone that you just can’t figure out what to buy. Chamber bucks make great gifts for employees or for that boss that is hard to buy for. You can purchase chamber bucks at the Adrian Bank or at Yoss Thriftway or Citizens Bank.
Once again we have a lot going on and a lot on our agenda. Keep shopping local and like I said chamber bucks are always a great gift and we always have are chamber mugs for sale. Keep your calendar open for the end of February or the beginning of March for a possible date for our annual banquet. I will keep you updated when I know more details. Support your Chamber and get involved. Lori Haskins, President
