The Adrian Chamber of Commerce’s featured business for this month is the Cantrell Vacuum and Sewing Shop, located at 210 West Main Street in Adrian. The business, which will have been at that location for two years, this coming October, is owned by Charles Cantrell.
Charles has been in the repair and sales business for about 19 years and has always been located in Bates County. Prior to moving to Adrian, he was located in Butler, just off the Butler Square.
He does all the work himself and offers his customers personal service, which he said is his specialty.
“I think personal service is important in my business,” he said. “It’s important in any business and it is what brings people back to you.”
Cantrell Vacuum and Sewing offers customers new vacuum cleaners such as Panasonic, as well as used vacuums such as Rainbow, Kenmore, Electrolux and Kirby. Charles carries a complete line of Kirby products such as bags and belts along with many items needed by other brands of vacuums and sewing machines.
“I used to have over 100 products for all types of vacuums such as bags, belts, wiring harness, foot controls and that sort of items, but, as older machines become obsolete and parts harder to find, I now carry over 50 parts and accessories for all types of vacuums and sewing machines,” he said, adding he also carries sewing machine needles, some threads, oil, belts and gears.
And, if he doesn’t have a particular item, he can order it, as he deals with two of the country’s largest wholesale companies in vacuum cleaner parts and the sewing machine parts company in the United States.
Cantrell Vacuum and Sewing is open Tuesday through Friday each week and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information, contact Charles at 816-297-4297. He said the number is easy to remember because he loves to play golf and there is a ‘four’ in the number.
When he was presented with the Adrian Chamber of Commerce’s mug of flowers he was surprised and pleased.
I appreciate the Chamber of Commerce for picking me for this recognition,” he said.
